Your craving for sugar will go away if you take protein. If you want to lose body fat then the bottom line is that you need to have protein in your diet.
Doing cardio correctly is something that is essential in learning how to lose body fat. The thing people do the most is doing to much cardio, and by doing so they burn themselves out. Everyone has noticed the crazy guy in the gym who does excessive amounts of cardio. These gym rats are literally stopping their muscular growth by doing insane amounts of cardio. Studies have shown that keeping your VO2 max at 65% for a workout of 25-30 minutes 3 times a week is most effective at burning body fat. A 65% VO2 max is when you can talk and breath in your mouth and out your nose. People refer to this as a conversational pace.
